Deadmau5 is Back on the Road for His Meowingtons Hax Tour 2011 – North America
Deadmau5’s popularity has skyrocketed over the years as he sells out major festivals and arenas from all over the world. The famous man behind the mouse head and the nickname Deadmau5 (pronounced dead mouse), Joe Zimmerman, is a Canadian electro and house producer in Toronto, Ontario. Born and raised in Niagara Falls, he has become one of the most in-demand artists on the electronic music genre. His stage name deadmau5 originated when Zimmerman found a dead mouse while replacing the video card on his computer. He discussed this with other chat room users and then became known as the dead mouse guy. He was then nicknamed as the Dead Mouse, which was later on shortened to deadmau5. His career started as a co-producer of the Niagara Falls radio show ‘The Party Revolution’. After his exposure to the different kinds of electronic music, he collaborated with many other artists and record labels. His first album ‘Get Scraped’ was released in 2006. He started his own record label ‘mau5trap’ in July 2007 along with other friends and producers. He released ‘The Random Album Title’ in 2008 through the Ultra Records of the United States and Ministry of Sound of UK. He collaborated with many other artists including the Kaskades with ‘Move for Me’ that reached the number one spot on the Billboard magazine’s Hot Dance Airplay in its September 2008 issue. This has also made him the only Canadian to achieve this status. He became the bestselling artists on Beatport in 2009 with about 30,000 digital downloads of his hit singles ‘Not Exactly’, ‘Ghosts N Stuff’, and ‘Faxing Berlin’. Deadmau5 was named as the house of DJ by the MTV 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and as the MTV Push artist of the week in August 2010. His studio album ‘4×4=12’ was released in December 2010 and its single ‘Some Chords’ was featured on an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The instrumental version of his ‘Sofi Needs a Ladder’ was then featured in the movie ‘The Hangover Part II’. After coming off from his extensive tour through Aisa, Deadmau5 is currently back for his North American Tour (Meowintons Hax Tour) which started in the first week of August at the Lollapalooza. After which he will travel to the west in San Francisco with shows in Vancouver, Seattle, and Hollywood. He will then hit the Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Morrison, CO this August 30.
