Rescheduled “Goin’ Coastal” Tour Weekend Finale Frustrated Fans

Musicians and artists on tour have the moral obligation of keeping their fans safe while they attend their concert lives, which is why as for Kenny Chesney to prioritize their safety during the peak of the hurricane issue should be seen as the best approach to take at that time. However, aside from the people severely affected by the knocked-out power supplies, floods, strong rains and storms Hurricane Irene caused them to experience, there might be no others who are as mad and frustrated as Kenny’s fans who bought Kenney Chesney tickets but still missed his Friday gig at the Gillette Stadium.

This American singer-songwriter, who has been holding a series of live performances on the road with his “Goin’ Coastal” tour, wanted the last weekend of this tour to be as safe as possible that he and his production staff decided to move his Sunday schedule to Friday because of hurricane warnings, with the Saturday show remained untouched in its fixed date. He was supposed to play in Foxboro, Massachusetts on Sunday, but he decided to play his Boston-area stadium concert two days earlier that what is scheduled because of the threats of the hurricane making her way up the East Coast during the weekend. As the published reports have stated, Hurricane Irene, which moved North Carolina communities towards evacuation, was expected to be a Category 1 or Category 2 hurricane in the Boston area by Sunday.

Though such rescheduling has been made to secure the safety of the fans, most of them, however, were rather disappointed and even upset about not seeing their long-awaited country music artist to perform in what they have decided as a convenient time for them in the weekend. Though it was said that fans who cannot attend the Friday show will be offered a refund at the point of purchase, they were very disappointed because they could still not make it to the rescheduled date. Kenny’s website have imparted the information about the refunds, but news circulated throughout the media that StubHub was not at first going to issue refunds, which was later on denied by the company. Primary reasons why fans were not able to make it in his newly scheduled Friday show include not being able to arrange their own time at work or home, much to the annoyance of those who have been waiting long just to see Kenny. They insist that the schedule should have not been moved a date closer but further out.

The concert time and opening acts including the Zac Brown Band and Billy Currington remained the same. Kenny played in the rain for more than 50,000 fans at the Gillette Stadium last August 27, marking the close of his “Goin’ Coastal” tour. He considered Foxboro fans one of the loudest, most exciting crowds he has been performing for in his touring years. Despite hurricane warnings, the last weekend of his tour had an attendance of over 100,000 fans. This simply shows that threats to make it to the concert were never good reasons enough to miss Kenny Chesney perform live.
