Way back in 2010, two of the world’s most popular and most phenomenal rap artists, Eminem and Lil Wayne got down to work together on a song. Although the two both had verses on ‘Forever’, it was a track from Drake in 2009. Lil Wayne’s song ‘Drop the World’ will be included on the album Rebirth which was originally set to be released in December 21. Rebirth is Lil Wayne’s seventh studio album from the Cash Money Records and it was released on February 2, 2010. Rebirth was actually promoted as the rock album debut of Lil Wayne, but it contained some hip hop tracks.
Rebirth debuted at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 chart as it sold 176,000 copies in its first week and it is the seventh top ten album of Wayne in the US. Rebirth also spawned four singles which all reached Billboard chart success. The track list of Rebirth includes the most awaited Eminem and Lil Wayne collaboration, along with Nicki Minaj, Kevin Rudolf, and Shanell. ‘Drop the World’ is the third single by rapper Lil Wayne from his album Rebirth, and it features the American rapper, Eminem. It was released on December 28, 2009 and on June 16, 2010 the single was certified platinum by the RIAA. ‘Drop the World’ came out with an accompanying music video.
Months later after the release of Lil Wayne’s Rebirth, the anticipated comeback album of Eminem has also leaked two weeks earlier than its scheduled release date. The album leaked along with the track ‘No Love’ which features Eminem and Lil Wayne for the third time. Recovery debuted at no. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and it sold about 741,000 copies on its first week. It produced three singles including ‘No Love’ featuring Lil Wayne, ‘Not Afraid’, and ‘Love the Way You Lie’ featuring Rihanna. Recovery earned Eminem a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and it sold 5.7 million copies worldwide.
This 2011, the Eminem and Lil Wayne has released a collaboration album entitled Marshall Carter from the Young Money and Shady label. This mixtape includes 25 tracks. Rumours of an Australian tour have leaked and it was confirmed with a two-date tour in December 2011. The supporting acts for this tour included rapper Lil Wayne, and Australia’s very own Hilltop Hoods at the Melbourne and Sydney shows. More supporting artists will be announced for Eminem’s Lose Yourself Tour. Their Australian fans are more than excited to see their favourite pair perform live on stage. This Australian tour would be Eminem’s second time to come to Australia since his tour in 2001 and it will be Lil Wayne’s first time in the country. Eminem and Lil Wayne tickets for the two-day Australian tour are already on sale.
