Compilation of the Foo Fighters Studio Albums

The Foo Fighters are an American alternative rock band headed by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl in 1994 after the dissolution of his previous band. The official members of the band before the release of their debut album include bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith of the Sunny Day Real Estate, as well as guitarist Pat Smear who was a fellow Nirvana touring band mate. The name of the band was from the UFOs and the different aerial happenings known as Foo Fighters that the Allied aircraft pilot reported during the World War II. While recording the band’s second album, Goldsmith left the band. Smear also left after the recording of the second album but was reunited with the band in their seventh album. Franz Stahl and Taylor Hawkins replaced the two members. However, Stahl was fired even before the third album was recorded. Chris Shiflett led the guitar and the backing vocals from 1999 to the present.

Over the course of the year, the Foo Fighters albums totals to a number of 7. The Foo Fighter’s first single to be released is ‘This is a call’ in June 1995. The following month, Foo Fighters released their self-titled debut album. The singles ’I’ll Stick Around, ‘For All the Cows’ and ‘Big Me’ were then released subsequently. Second on the list of the Foo Fighters albums, The Colour and the Shape, was released in May 1997. The album spawned three singles ‘Monkey Wrench’, ‘My Hero’, and ‘Everlong’. There Is Nothing Left to Lose, the third album of the band, was recorded in Grohl’s Virginia home studio and was released in 1999. In October 2002, the band’s album One by One was released. The singles included in their fourth album include ‘All MY Life’, ‘Times Like These’, ‘Low’, and ‘Have it All’. The band spent a year and a half touring to promote One by One. Grohl then decided to divide their follow-up album into two discs, one is full of rock songs, while the other features acoustic tracks. In June 2005, In Your Honor was released and it includes the singles ‘Best of You’, ‘DOA’, ‘No Way Back/Cold Day in the Sun’ and ‘Resolve’. In support of In Your Honor, a short acoustic tour was organized by the band in the summer of 2006. Sixth of the Foo Fighters albums entitled Echose, Silence, Patience & Grace was released on September 25, 2007 as follow up to In Your Honor. The first single of the album, ‘The Pretender’ was released early in August and it topped the Billboard’s Modern Rock chart with a 19 weeks record. In December 2007, the second single ‘Long Road to Ruin’ was released and was supported by a music video. Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace received five nominations from the Grammy Awards in 2008 and they won Best Rock Album and Best Hard Rock Performance for the single ‘The Pretender’. In August 2010, the band began recording their seventh studio album, Wasting Light, in Grohl’s garage using analog equipment. In February 2011, the first single of the album entitled ‘Rope’ was released. Wasting Light debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, which is the first for the Foo Fighters albums to do so.

The Foo Fighters received their first Grammy Award for the music video of their single ‘Learn to Fly’ in 2000. They have also won six more. Three of which are for Best Rock Album for the Foo Fighters album There is Nothing Left to Lose, One by One, and Echoes, Silence, Patience, & Grace. The other two Grammys include Best Hard Rock Performance for the singles ‘All My Life’ and ‘The Pretender’. Foo Fighters tickets are currently available online though our associated ticket outlet.
