Kanye’s Latest Collaborative Album with Jay-Z
The American hip hop singer, rapper, and producer Kanye West has just released the new Kanye West album, featuring another big name in the hip hop/rap music industry, Jay-Z. Kanye have worked together with Jay-Z since his The Blueprint album. He started producing music for various artists since 1996-1999 but his big break came later in 2000 when he began producing for the Roc-A-Fella Records. Kanye wanted to pursue a career as a rapper and solo artist but he struggled in finding a record deal. Jay-Z, who is the founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, admitted that the record label was reluctant to support Kanye as a rapper because the label saw him as a producer first and foremost.
Many record companies have felt that Kanye wouldn’t be as marketable as a rapper, but just look at where Kanye is right now. He began his career as a rapper in 2004 and now, he’s down to his sixth album on this collaboration with Jay-Z. In his eight years as a solo rap artist, he has already produced 5 studio albums, wherein 3 of which debuted consecutively at no. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 200 albums. His debut album The College Dropout debuted at no. 2 on the US Billboard 200 charts and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Late Registration, his second album, debuted at no. 1, it was one of the very few rap albums to be given a 5/5 by the Rolling Stone magazine, not to mention that it has gained five multi-platinum certifications along with triple platinum from the RIAA. His third album, Graduation, even stayed at the no. 1 spot for more than a month and produced two Grammy Award-winning singles. The album entitled 808s & Heartbreak is the fourth album of West, which shows more of West’s singing than rapping, was his third consecutive no. 1 album. The new Kanye West album as a solo artist, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was his fifth studio album which was released on November 22, 2010.
The recently released new Kanye West album, Watch The Throne is a collaborative studio album of Kanye and rapper Jay-Z. IT was released on August 8, 2011 by the Roc-A-Fella Records, Roc Nation, and Def Jam Recordings. The album debuted at no. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart and produced two singles. ‘H.A.M.’ and ‘Otis’, both of which have received Billboard chart successes. The album was greeted with a warm commendation and positive reviews from critics who praised the production and the performance of the two rap giants in the industry. Kanye West tickets are now available, as he and Jay-z are set to promote this much awaited album of the year with a 24-datel tour beginning in October, through December 2011.
