The singer-songwriter Miranda Lambert was born on November 10, 1983 at Longview, Texas. She is the daughter of a country music guitarist Rick Lambert, a detective agency owner. Lambert was raised in a house dedicated country music. When she was 16 years old, she started joining country talent contests and she even appeared with the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, TX. She was then quickly given the opportunity of a recording session in Nashville, but went back to Texas to ask her dad to teach her how to play the guitar because she was frustrated with ‘Pop’ music and had wanted to write her own songs instead. She continued to join different kinds of competitions wherein one led her to have an appearance in a potato chip ad as well as in the 2001 teen comedy ‘Slap Her She’s French’. About Miranda Lambert and her career as a professional musician, she showed the world his songwriting skills by releasing an independent CD entitled Miranda Lambert, which was financed by her father. The album includes tracks ‘Texas Pride’ and ‘Somebody Else’. The two singles have even entered the Texas music charts. In 2003, she auditioned for the reality series Nashville Star, formatted after the American Idol. She finished third in the competition and it led her to a recording contract with Sony. At 21, she released her first single ‘Me and Charlie Talking’ (co-written by her father) in 2004. This major label single was followed with the full length of her album, Kerosene in 2005. She herself co-wrote ten out of the eleven-track album. Some of the songs became popular and the album was certified platinum. Her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend album which was released in 2007 has experienced similar success as Kerosene. It is in fact the album that gave her the recognition of being one country music’s newest ‘Bad Girls’. This label well matched the fiery temperament of Lambert’s music. The songs in this album revolve on cheating boyfriends as well as on domestic abuse. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend peaked at no. 6 on the Billboard 200 charts. In her 2009 album Revolution wherein she wrote 3 of the tracks, she branched out into other themes wherein the songs she wrote were about love, regret, and childhood. Revolution, just like her two previous albums, went platinum. The second single of Revolution, ‘White Liar’, which was released on August 17, 2009, debuted at no. 50 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In February of 2010, ‘White Liar’ peaked at no. 2 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and became Lambert’s first top five hit. ‘The House That Built Me’, the third single from the album became a no. 1 hit on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and it received a platinum certification from the RIAA. Lambert also won the Best Female Country Vocal Performance from the Grammy Awards for ‘The House That Built Me’.
