The singer/songwriter Miranda Lambert has emerged as one of country music’s rising stars. Born on November 10, 1983 in Longview, Texas to parents Richard Lee Lambert and Beverly June Lambert, Lambert grew up in a home dedicated to country music. Her parent san a private detective agency and her father was a country guitarist. Lambert began entering country music talent shows at the age of 10 under her father’s tutorial. She appeared in the Johnny High Country Music Review in Arlington, and this led her to her very first studio recording. However, Lambert was disappointed about being urged to sing ‘pop’ sound. She neglected the project and asked her father to teach her how to play the guitar so she could start making her own music.

In 2001, her family supported her financially in promoting her first recording of an independent self-titled CD featuring song tracks with lyrics by Miranda Lambert. Two years later, Lambert got into the country music reality show Nashville Star. Lambert finished third in the competition which gave her a recording contract with Sony. In March 2005 she released Kerosene wherein 11 out of the 12 tracks have song lyrics by Miranda Lambert. The whole album caught the attention of many country fans that it peaked at no. 16 on the Billboard 200 charts and no. 1 in the Top Country Album. The album reached platinum and she was nominated for Best Country Vocal Performance Female in the 2007 Grammy Awards. The title track Kerosene’s music and lyrics by Miranda Lambert peaked at no. 15 on the Hot Country Songs chart and at no. 61 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song was Lambert’s first to be certified Gold by the RIAA in 2006.

Her sophomore album Crazy Ex-Girlfriend was released in 2007. It won the Album of the Year award at the ACM awards. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend spawned singles including three songs ‘Famous in a Small Town’, ‘Gunpowder & Lead’, and ‘More Like Her’, all with lyrics by Miranda Lambert. ‘Gunpowder & Lead‘ became her first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs. It sold more than 500,000 digital downloads and was certified Gold by the RIAA on December 3, 2008.

Taking the two-year gap, Lambert came back with a new album, Revolution, in 2009. Revolution spawned singles such as ‘dead Flowers’, ‘White Liar’, ‘Heart Like Mine’, and ‘Only Prettier’ with lyrics by Miranda Lambert, and ‘The House That Built Me’ which was written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin. ‘White Liar’ was a certified Gold in the US while ‘The House That Built Me’ reached platinum in the US. ‘Heart Like Mine’ on the other hand is the fifth final single on her Revolution album
